King Charles is ready to mend fences with his son, Prince Harry, and is reportedly planning a grand get-together for the Royal Family at Balmoral later this year. Despite the strained relations between the Sussexes and the monarchy, there is hope that the situation can be salvaged if all parties can come together. However, the main reason behind Charles’ willingness to extend an olive branch is his desire to spend more time with his grandchildren.
Prince Charles has been unable to see his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet, as much as he would have liked. Harry has visited the UK on multiple occasions, but Meghan and the children have not accompanied him. Given Charles’ health issues and the troubled relationship between him and Harry, it is understandable that he is growing concerned about his connection with Archie and Lilibet. In the words of a royal insider, “He may decide that life is just too short. Balmoral is truly the perfect, restful place for a reunion. If he does issue an invite, then Harry and Meghan should surely agree to the visit.”
Archie and Lilibet have only been to the UK once since their parents’ famous royal exit in 2020. The tension between Harry, Meghan, and the rest of the royals is evident, with grievances aired in their interview with Oprah Winfrey and subsequent documentaries. Despite their loss of Frogmore Cottage and security concerns, it will be interesting to see how the Sussexes respond if Charles extends an invitation to Balmoral.
