The term ‘big cat’ just got an extreme refurbish thanks to the appearance of this massive feline. Everyone meet Apollo, a lion-tiger crossbreed who just earned the title of the ‘world’s biggest cat.’This gentle giant is a liger – a hybrid combination of a male lion and a tigress. Apollo recently gained notoriety after he took a walk alongside Mike Holston and wildlife conservationist Kody Antle, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The footage was than uploaded on YouTube and immediately went viral.
“This big guy’s name is Apollo and he is the biggest cat on the planet. Now the question is, what would this thing eat? I believe it would eat everything in sight, anything in sight,” Mike said. I think a pack of these things would take down a herd of elephants on the regular for a snack. Such a majestic beast, and it can get up to 40 miles an hour in a couple of steps,” the ex football star added.
Mike also added the liger’s teeth are the size of his middle finger, its tongue is the size of his forearm, and its lung is probably as big as his torso. As about its neck, it is also too large for either of the men to wrap their arms around, the Scoop Whoop reports. Ligers could reach up to 12 feet and weight up to 795 lbs, twice than a lion or a tiger. People are comparing Apollo with the prehistorical sabre-tooth tiger, that went extinct 42,000 years ago.
